Why Kannada Breaks
Standard Translators?
Kannada is not just a language. It is a classical system with 2,500 years of history, where one word can replace an entire sentence, and politeness changes grammar.
In 2008, the Government of India granted Kannada the status of a Classical Language. This places it alongside Sanskrit, Greek, and Latin. But for AI translators, it is a nightmare. Why? Because most models are trained on English logic (Subject-Verb-Object), which fundamentally contradicts the Dravidian structure of Kannada.
01. Diglossia: Two Realities
Kannada exists in two parallel worlds. If you use "bookish" language in conversation, you sound like an actor from a 19th-century play. If you write "colloquial" language in documents, it is considered an insult.
02. Agglutination: The Glue
In English, you say: "To the houses" (3 words).
In Kannada, it is one word: ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ (Manegalige).
Root Mane (House) + gal (Plural) + ige (Dative case). Generic AI often tries to translate each word separately, creating a "word salad". We analyze morphology as a whole.
03. The Script Trap (Telugu vs Kannada)
The alphabets of Kannada and Telugu are twins. They look almost identical but have different Unicode codes. Ordinary parsers often confuse them, producing text that looks normal but cannot be searched (Ctrl+F) and breaks databases.
| Sound | Kannada | Telugu | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ka | ಕ | క | Almost Identical |
| La | ಲ | ల | Different! |
Our Script Integrity Check tool allows you to scrub "foreign" characters from your text.
