We don't translate words.
We decode meaning.
Ordinary models see Kannada as a sequence of characters. Our model sees Vibhakti Pratyaya (case suffixes) and Sandhi (coalescence).
English to Kannada Grammar and Alphabets
When developing a system for English to Kannada learning and translation, the biggest hurdle is structural mapping. The English to Kannada alphabets do not share a 1:1 phonetic relationship. Furthermore, the English to Kannada grammar shifts from a Subject-Verb-Object (SVO) sequence to a Subject-Object-Verb (SOV) sequence. Our AI intrinsically re-orders sentences rather than performing word-for-word substitution.
The Tokenization Problem
Most Large Language Models (LLMs) use tokenizers trained on English. They break the word "ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆಯೇ" (Baruttiddieneye - "Am I coming?") into 5-6 meaningless fragments. This destroys semantic cohesion.
We use Morpheme-Aware Tokenization. Our algorithm understands that:
- Baru = Root (Come)
- tt = Present Tense
- idd = Continuous Aspect
- ene = I (1st Person)
- ye = Interrogative Particle
Only by understanding this chain can the phrase be translated accurately: "Am I coming?", not just "I come".
Context Vectors & Cultural Layers
In English, "You" is just "You". In Kannada, it's a minefield:
- Neenu (ನೀನು): Friends, children, god.
- Neevu (ನೀವು): Respectful, strangers.
- Taavu (ತಾವು): Highest respect (for teachers or sarcasm).
Our AI analyzes neighboring words (context vectors). If the text contains "Sir", "Officer", or "Client", it automatically switches the register to Neevu/Taavu.
Sandhi: The Art of Fusion
Kannada loves to glue words. Mane (House) + Annnu (It) = Maneyannu. Fusion rules (Lopa Sandhi, Agama Sandhi) are strictly encoded in our post-processing. We ensure the generated text flows smoothly, as if written by a native speaker.
Technical FAQ
Do you use rule-based or neural translation?
We use a hybrid approach. Neural networks (Transformer architecture) handle the meaning and fluency, while a rule-based layer enforces strict grammatical correctness for honorifics and numbers.
How secure is my data?
We do not store your translations. Texts are processed in RAM and discarded immediately after generation. Perfect for NDA-protected documents.
Does it support Old Kannada (Halegannada)?
Our primary focus is Modern Standard Kannada (Hosagannada) used in business and government. Halegannada support is experimental.
